01Who is responsible

Affiliate Choice is the controller of the personal information described here. Our correspondence address is Affiliate Choice, C/O TWV Media, 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. For any privacy question or request, use our contact page.

02What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, password (stored encrypted), date of birth to confirm you are 18 or over, and your guide email preference.
• Orders: what you bought, when, the price paid, billing name and address, and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment providers, not by us.
• Messages: anything you send through the contact or request forms, and replies we send.
• Reviews and comments: the text, your display name and rating.
• Usage and device information: pages viewed, links clicked, approximate location, browser and device type, collected through cookies and similar technologies where you allow it.
• Security information: IP address, login attempts and technical logs used to protect the site.

03How we use it and why

We only use personal information where the law allows it. Our lawful bases are:

• Contract: to create and run your account, apply the member price, take payment, deliver products and handle support.
• Legal obligation: to keep financial records and respond to lawful requests.
• Consent: to send guide emails and marketing, and to set analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests: to keep the site secure, prevent fraud and spam, understand how the site is used in aggregate, and improve our guides and products. We balance these interests against your rights.

04Emails

We send order and account emails because they are part of the service. Guide emails and other marketing are sent only if you opt in, and every one includes an unsubscribe link. You can also change your preference in your account. Our email marketing is run through Brevo.

05Who we share it with

We never sell personal information. We share it only with providers that help us run the site, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions:

• payment providers: Stripe, WooPayments (Automattic) and PayPal;
• email: Brevo for guide emails, and our email delivery service for account and order emails;
• analytics and tag management: Google (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics), where you consent;
• consent management: CookieYes;
• security and performance: Cloudflare, Wordfence and Google reCAPTCHA;
• our website hosting provider;
• professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.

If Affiliate Choice or its assets are sold or transferred, personal information may pass to the new owner, who must use it in line with this policy.

06International transfers

Some providers process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

07How long we keep it

• Account information: while your account is open, and for up to 12 months after closure to deal with queries.
• Order and financial records: six years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as tax law requires.
• Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe, then a minimal suppression record so we do not email you again.
• Contact and request messages: up to two years.
• Security logs: normally no more than 12 months.

08Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive information you gave us in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Some rights have limits, for example we must keep order records for tax purposes. We will respond within one month.

09Age

Accounts and purchases are for people aged 18 and over, and we ask for a date of birth at sign-up to check this. The public guides are not aimed at children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

10Security

We use encrypted connections, access controls, security monitoring and reputable providers to protect information. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong password and keep it private.

11Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site and, with your consent, to understand how it is used. Our cookie policy explains the details and how to change your choices.

12Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

13Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices or providers change. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change significantly affects you, we will tell you by email or on the site.
